The first 4(four) container cranes for Eurogate Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven moored to the quay with a special ship from China, on Tuesday, 6th of March. The ship “Zhenhua 23”, belonging to the Chinese ZPMC, left Shanghai on 6 of January and arrived 2 months later in the German port/harbor. The container cranes are suitable for a container ship with 25 rows of containers deck. Totally, there are sixteen of these large container cranes, available in Wilhelmshaven.

Soon, the following vessel is expected and it brings another four cranes. In August, when the container will be opened, there will be eight operational cranes.
"In this way, we invested container cranes into the future, "said Marcel Egger, CEO of Eurogate Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven GmbH & Co. KG and a member of Eurogate Group Management Board. "The current large containerships have a capacity of 15,550 TEUs and 22 rows of containers and other large vessels with a sail of 18,000 TEUs with 23 rows containers on deck. The cranes can contrast to 25 rows of containers processed and they are, therefore, suitable for future growth in the container market. Perhaps, in the future, thanks to this investment when the size of the vessels will change, we won’t have to make any updates. "
The next weeks, the container cranes will be brought ashore and tested.
Although the valves have arrived there is some work to be done before they can fully operate.
