Electrical conversion of five dock cranes belonging to Keppel Verolme
EPMC Europe Crane Solutions signed a contract with the renowned company Keppel Verolme to convert five dock cranes
EPMC Europe Crane Solutions signed a contract with the renowned company Keppel Verolme to convert five dock cranes with outdated Ward Leonard controlled drives to frequency controlled drives with an energy recovery system. EPMC Europe Crane Solutions also took care of the EIA grant application. After receiving the necessary approval, we selected an AFE power unit that can also feed the energy back into the grid, as well as the frequency controllers and standard squirrel cage motors. The electro-technical engineering and the drawings were also carried out by EPMC Europe Crane Solutions. We furthermore supplied, installed and commissioned two complete control units for hoisting, topping, slewing and crane driving.

We installed a new crane seat with integrated controllers to increase user comfort and operating speed as well as a weight-dependent speed control for hoisting and lowering of the load. We also fitted an Airpes automatic overload protection system at the boom’s apex/operating radius. Finally, EPMC Europe Crane Solutions was responsible for the test load report and IIB Declaration of Conversion.
