Mechanical overhaul of portal crane on De Zeeland II belonging to company Van Oord
EPMC Europe Crane Solutions started the mechanical overhaul of the trolleys and slewing mechanism of the crane on board the Zeeland II
In early 2015, EPMC Europe Crane Solutions started the mechanical overhaul of the trolleys and slewing mechanism of the crane on board the Zeeland II belonging to the company Van Oord. We also worked on the re-engineering of the crane travel drive and guide rollers. In order to tackle this job, the entire superstructure and trolley constructions were removed from the crane followed by a complete overhaul of the trolley constructions. The trolley constructions were given a new coating, all guide rollers were replaced as were the cable pulleys, including bearings, and the trolley motors were overhauled and all e-cables and stops were replaced.
Complete re-engineering
The two winch units as well as the hoisting motors were overhauled. The end stops were replaced followed by a re-reeving of the hoisting cables. Once the slewing gear and slewing ring were removed, we carried out a complete overhaul of the parts. The slewing motor and slewing gear were also overhauled. Following the re-engineering, production and assembly, a new crane travel drive was installed. The guide rollers for the crane drive underwent the same process after which the completely overhauled superstructure was placed back on the crane’s substructure. Finally, the electrical installation was reconnected and the crane was tested with a test load. The crane was commissioned after a successful test run. The project was carried out by the deadline and to the full satisfaction of our client. We look forward to continuing working for them!
