In 2014 EPMC Europe Crane Solutions was commissioned by Albeton to move and adapt an 8-tonne Drakenburgh grapple-top-rotating crane. The crane was moved from the Cruquiusweg to the Ankerweg in Amsterdam. As well as moving the crane, we re-measured the slewing ring bearing and levelled it with seal kits. The cable reel was replaced because of a longer route and we added a new park position and transition point for the crane’s feed reel. We also made some software modifications and held a consultancy meeting about the crane gantry.
On time
To enable transportation by ship, various hydraulic cranes were used, including the required engineering of hoisting and transport facilities. It was also necessary to dismantle and reassemble the electrical and mechanical installation. Furthermore, EPMC Europe Crane Solutions was responsible for the engineering, supply and installation of new power cable reels, including the dismantling of the old reel. All the necessary work was done during the construction industry holiday to avoid unnecessary downtime and to ensure that the crane remained available one hundred percent of the time.
